Items Needed for Cades Cove Trip

 

Please look over the following list of items to bring and items not to bring to the 2008 Cades Cove Trip.  If you have any questions please call the church office at 864.269.7345.

Any medications must be given to the Youth Director with directions and parent signature.

 

What to bring:

  1. Bible
  2. At least 2 changes of clothes per day (at least 14 outfits).
  3. Bathing suit, must be one-piece, with dark shirt and shorts to go over bathing suit.
  4. Plenty of shoes.  1 good pair, 1 old pair, 1 pair for water, etc.
  5. Plenty of socks.
  6. Jacket.  Nights get rather chilly, so a windbreaker may be needed.  Also bring a rain jacket because it may rain.
  7. Pillow, blankets, sleeping bags, mats, cots, etc.  You may bring any sleeping arrangement that you desire.  Tents will be provided by the TRUTH for YOUTH.
  8. Laundry bag.
  9. Mosquito and bug repellant.
  10. Tioletries: deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.  YOU WILL TAKE A BATH.
  11. Extra spending money if desired.  You are responsible if your money is lost, so hold on to it.  NO REFUNDS.
  12. Bring towels, wash cloths, clothesline pins, laundry bag, etc.
  13. Bring your own chair to sit in around the campfire.  If you break your chair, you do not get someone else’s.  We suggest you also LABEL your chair in some form or fashion where so that your NAME is visible on the item.
  14. FLASHLIGHT.  This will be used.
  15. Bicycle.
  16. Small whiskbroom to clean up tent.
  17. Water bottle or canteen.
  18. Ball glove, ball, Frisbee, or other games you may want to play.  Board games are permitted.

 

Label all of your stuff with either your initials or full name so no belongings will be misplaced, taken, etc.  PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING.

 

What NOT to bring:

  1. Bad attitude.  Leave this at home.  Must respect leaders at all times.  We are responsible to take you there and bring you back in one piece, so you must obey the rules.
  2. No large knives, guns of any kind, explosive objects of any kind, firecrackers, paintball guns or paintballs, etc.
  3. No sweet smelling deodorants as bath equipment or food for that matter.
  4. NO SNACKS in tents!  This WILL attract BEARS.
  5. NO CARVING on the tables or trees.  It is ILLEGAL.
  6. NO TVs, RADIOS, Gameboys, CD players, etc.  On the Bus or Camping.

 

Parents: There are pay phones at the Cades Cove store so children may be permitted to call with leader approval and supervision.
